Colum McCann awarded

I was happy to hear the news: dear friend Colum McCann is National Book Award winner 2009 for fiction. Congratulations! I’m remembering our reading in summer 2004 in Spojka in Bratislava, when Tibor Holoda was deejaying.

Colum’s novel Zoli is a lyrical and turbulent story about the life of a Roma poet from Slovakia, loosely based on the life of the Polish Gypsy writer Papusza, who lived through most of the 20th century.
